Some projects start in a classroom and end up looking up at the sky. This is the case with Saxun-Roboluti_ON, the team from IES Hermanos Amorós in Villena, which has just added a new milestone to its track record in the educational competition organised by the European Space Agency.

Saxun-Roboluti_ON has won the 2026 CanSat National Final with NimbuSat, a mini-satellite the size of a soft drink can that stood out among the country’s best educational projects. The victory, achieved in Badajoz, will enable the team to represent Spain at the ESA’s European event, ‘Engineer for a Day’, to be held in the Netherlands at the end of June.

An educational project with a European dimension

At the Talavera la Real air base, Saxun-Roboluti_ON competed alongside the 16 best teams in Spain, made up of students from secondary school, sixth form and vocational training. There, they put months of work into the launch, data analysis and presentation of NimbuSat to the test before a panel of experts.

The jury praised the project’s technical balance, its scientific approach and the team’s coordination. This is a tribute to young talent and the ability to turn an idea conceived in the classroom into a project with a European reach.

From educational robotics to space engineering

Saxun-Roboluti_ON’s victory is no fluke. For years, the team has been demonstrating that science, technology and creativity can transform the environment when they are met with support, trust and continuity.

The project began in the technology workshop at IES Hermanos Amorós, with the aim of promoting STEM subjects and inspiring an interest in science among young people. Since then, the project has grown thanks to the efforts of students and teachers, with participation in competitions such as the First Lego League and in initiatives linked to aerospace programming and the International Space Station.

Saxun has sought to be part of this journey from the very beginning, supporting a project that brings together education, innovation and young talent. This partnership has been built on trust and continuity, based on the belief that ideas born in the classroom also need space to grow.

Because supporting education, innovation and science also means helping to build the future.

With NimbuSat, this partnership is taking a new leap forward: from educational robotics to space engineering, and from the classroom to a European event organised by the European Space Agency.

A world that grows with every new challenge

At Saxun, we like to think that every project we undertake adds a little light to our world. The Saxun-Roboluti_ON team has demonstrated this once again through their perseverance, teamwork and an extraordinary ability to turn an idea into reality.

We at Saxun would like to congratulate the team, IES Hermanos Amorós and everyone who has supported this project from the very beginning.

We would also like to thank the other participants in the 2026 CanSat National Final for continuing to bring science, technology and innovation to the younger generation.

Now it’s time to look towards Europe. The journey continues, and at Saxun we’ll continue to stand by Saxun-Roboluti_ON with the same pride with which we celebrate every step.
