The Meliá Group’s INNSIDE brand has arrived in Alicante, transforming spaces into havens of well-being and comfort. Saxun has contributed to this by installing 32 bespoke bioclimatic pergolas, which have redefined the hotel’s outdoor lobby, as highlighted by its director, with whom we spoke about the installation, its potential and its aesthetic appeal.
The arrival of INNSIDE by Meliá Alicante marks a new approach to hotel spaces: more open, more versatile and designed with guests’ well-being in mind.
In this context, Saxun has played a part in transforming the hotel’s main entrance by installing 32 bespoke bioclimatic pergolas, turning the outdoor lobby into a functional, efficient space that reflects the resort’s identity.
“It’s been a radical change. It’s the guest’s first encounter with the hotel, and the transformation has been fantastic,” explains Cristina Rebner, the hotel’s manager.
The renovation has completely transformed the hotel’s entrance, which now serves as a natural extension of the building itself.
“We decided to keep the entrance as it was, but we needed to give it a fresh look and a stronger presence. We wanted the entrance to convey what the hotel is all about from the very first moment,” says Rebner.
The result is a space that is not only welcoming, but also invites you to linger.
The project comprises 32 bioclimatic pergolas, each custom-designed, manufactured and installed to meet the architectural and functional requirements of the surroundings.
“We were looking for a solution that would fit perfectly with our vision for the space, and the bespoke design has been key to achieving that,” says the director.
To this end, specific solutions have been incorporated, such as reinforced structures, customised configurations and an efficient drainage system, ensuring durability, aesthetic integration and performance.
One of the most highly valued features has been the ability to regulate light and temperature naturally.
“Through daily use, we’ve seen just how versatile the slat orientation is. It’s a simple adjustment that allows us to make much better use of the light and adapt the space to suit the time of day,” explains Rebner.
This control system directly contributes to improving the energy efficiency of the space, in line with more sustainable building management.
The hotel manager has emphasised that this transformation has made it possible to put a space that previously had limited use to good use.
“The entrance is now a natural extension of the hotel. We’ve gained a space that we weren’t making use of before.” “Although we didn’t realise it at first, this space has become crucial because of all the opportunities it offers us.”
From an aesthetic point of view, the use of neutral-toned finishes reinforces the continuity with the hotel’s interior, creating a coherent and balanced look.
The installation features perimeter LED lighting, which extends the use of the space beyond daylight hours.
“It allows us to continue using this space in the evenings and also enhances the hotel’s image,” says Rebner.
A solution that combines functionality and atmosphere, enhancing the customer experience.
The hotel management also praised the way the project was carried out: “It has been a success thanks to the speed, efficiency and flexibility shown during the installation.”
As for maintenance, there has been a significant change from the previous setup: “We were previously using a much more complex fixed solution. Now, maintenance is much simpler and more accessible. We’ve made a real leap in quality.”
