For yet another year, and now in its 15th edition, runners and residents of Sax have made the Saxun Villa de Sax Night Cross Country Race a success in terms of participation.
Not even the strong, icy wind could dampen the excitement and enthusiasm of hundreds of runners and spectators who, braving the adverse weather conditions, turned the streets of Sax into a veritable sporting festival.

As in previous editions, registration, limited to 1,500 runners, filled up within a few hours of opening. Given this success, we can only thank you once again.
On the day of the race, 1,336 runners crossed the finish line, cheered on by spectators who, despite the low temperatures, lined the streets of Sax.

Fabián Manrique, with a time of 0:25:04, came in first place. Adil Moussaoui, winner of last year's race, came in second with a time of 0:25:51. Both belong to the EGARI Trail Club. Antonio Navarro Poveda, from the Hondón de las Nieves Athletic Club, completed the podium with a time of 0:26:26.

In the women's category, Ana Belén Martínez Atencia, from Qualis Training Novelda, won the race with a time of 0:32:46. Caterina Peralta came in second and Blanca García Pardo came in third, both with a time of 0:32:47. It is worth noting the small difference in the times of the members of the women's podium.

Throughout the day, Saxun and the town in general welcomed the runners, who came from different towns in the provinces of Alicante, Valencia, Murcia and Albacete. The streets were decorated with festive light arches in honour of the upcoming Moors and Christians festival. Residents gathered at the doors of the barracks and in the town's central streets to cheer on the runners.

A sporting event that has become another fixture in the calendar leading up to the Sax festivities, as pointed out by the town's mayor, Laura Estevan, who joined us at the trophy presentation: "It has become one of the events that kicks off the Moors and Christians festivities in honour of San Blas," "We would like to thank Saxun for supporting this night-time cross-country race, which creates a great atmosphere and attracts a lot of participants."
We look forward to seeing you all there!
