The event, held at Saxun’s premises in collaboration with the Official Association of Architects of the Region of Murcia, brought together professionals and researchers to discuss the importance of shading in terms of energy efficiency, comfort and well-being in buildings.
On 7 October, we welcomed professionals from the Official Association of Architects of the Region of Murcia (COAMU) to our premises in Sax (Alicante) for a conference focusing on the strategic role of shading and solar control systems in contemporary architecture.
A meeting at which we shared a key idea: the importance of incorporating solar protection from the earliest stages of architectural design, taking into account how solar radiation affects the energy performance of buildings and the comfort of their occupants.

One of the most rewarding moments of the day was the participation of Carlos Pérez Carramiñana and Ángel Benigno González Avilés, who hold PhDs in Architecture and are lecturers and researchers in the Department of Architectural Structures at the University of Alicante.
His presentation enabled us to explore in greater depth the relationship between architecture and the Mediterranean climate, with a particular focus on semi-arid and arid conditions, and on the influence of shading devices on energy savings and thermal and lighting comfort.
This line of research highlights the value of forging closer links between the academic world and the business sector. It is within this context that the collaboration between the University of Alicante and the Spanish Association of Shading and Dynamic Solar Control Companies (AESSO), of which we are founding members, to promote awareness and the implementation of solar control solutions in the building sector.

Our project manager, Antonio Pascual, introduced the architects in attendance to the vast range of solutions and systems offered by CAI for the efficient solar control of spaces.
During his presentation, he outlined the potential applications of our systems and the criteria for selecting the most suitable solution based on the characteristics, orientation and requirements of each project.
A practical approach that complemented the academic perspective and enabled us to highlight how choosing the right sun protection systems can help to create more efficient, comfortable and healthy spaces.

The day concluded with a panel discussion during which we exchanged experiences and reflections with the professionals in attendance on the role of solar control in contemporary architecture and the need to design with the specific characteristics of the Mediterranean climate in mind.
This event, which is the result of our collaboration with COAMU, reinforces our commitment to sharing knowledge, fostering close ties with architecture professionals and developing solutions that improve the spaces we live in.
Because we believe that moving towards a more sustainable approach to architecture also means gaining a better understanding of our environment and incorporating, right from the start of every project, solar control solutions that contribute to people’s well-being.
