The project has been recognised as Spain’s first certified zero-emission development and as the country’s first residential development to achieve the highest BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’ at the design stage.
Villa Ayantam, situated in the Cascada de Camoján development, right in the heart of Marbella’s Golden Mile, marks a turning point in high-end residential construction in Spain.
At Saxun, we have contributed to this unique home by providing a key solution for its energy performance and architectural integration: our Wind Screen, a range of external sun protection systems designed to control light, protect the large windows and enhance indoor comfort without compromising the façade’s appearance.
Designed by OÖD Architects and developed by S&H Sun Coast Real Estate, Villa Ayantam has been created in accordance with bioclimatic and biophilic principles. Its aim is to generate more energy than it consumes and to offer a residential experience in which sustainability, beauty and well-being coexist naturally.

The property features 12 Dante-model Wind Screen systems, with 125 mm cassettes and Soltis Opaque B92 fabric in Bronze 1043. All of these were incorporated from the design stage, which is particularly important in projects where sun protection cannot be treated as a retrofit.
For Carlos Martínez Jarabo, a partner at S&H and Project Manager for Villa Ayantam, the cornerstones of the project are “beauty, sustainability and health”, three values he considers “essential in the high-end luxury market”. From this perspective, the choice of Saxun’s Wind Screens was clear from the outset: “Our commitment to this solution was very clear right from the start”.

The Soltis Opaque B92 fabric provides complete opacity when privacy, rest or greater light control is required. At Villa Ayantam, this fabric replaces traditional solutions with a cleaner, more integrated and contemporary look.
The Bronze 1043 colour provides visual continuity with the villa’s design and enhances the elegance of the façade. It is not just about providing protection from the sun; it is about doing so without disrupting the architectural style of the project.

At Villa Ayantam, each opening has different dimensions, an orientation, and a distinct relationship with the façade. For this reason, the Wind Screens have been developed as bespoke solutions, tailored to the needs of each space and the architecture of the house.
The ZIP system helps to keep the fabric stable in windy conditions and improves the protection offered by large windows against sunlight, rain, dust and outdoor dirt. It is a particularly useful solution in high-end homes where building envelope design, functionality and comfort must go hand in hand.

The systems installed at Villa Ayantam are integrated into the home’s smart home system.
Thanks to this integration, the Wind Screens can be programmed according to timetables, seasons, the sun’s angle or predictive systems. As a result, the sun protection operates automatically when the home needs it, improving indoor comfort and helping the building as a whole to function more efficiently.

Aesthetics also played a decisive role. As Martínez Jarabo explains, “using Saxun’s Wind Screens helps the design to come across as powerfully as it has.”
