Alicante is one of the most important tourist destinations both inside and outside Spain, and one of its landmarks is the Hotel Meliá Alicante.
Almost half a century ago, this mythical Hotel was built on the shore of the beach of El Postiguet. It provides a vantage point overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and has been adapted to the times and the evolution of the tourist history of the city.
Its legendary M-shaped architectural structure has characterised all its spaces, which have been reinvented to ensure it remains one of the most dazzling hotels of the Costa Blanca.
To that end, the Hotel Meliá Alicante has created a new meeting place facing the Port of Alicante using the shade provided by of twelve of our Saxun Bioclimatic Pergolas. A flagship product for sun protection systems.
Thanks to the installation of Saxun Bioclimatic Pergolas, the hotel has achieved a natural, high-quality extension of its breakfast dining room while converting this esplanade into an idyllic space for outdoor social, cultural and business events.
To cover this space, which is completely asymmetrical, we produced a completely customised structure.
At Saxun, we are used to working in a personalised manner because we know that each space has unique measurements and dimensions, as well as different uses and needs.
In this case, the installation on the outdoor terrace has six P-150 duplex pergolas made of high-strength aluminium with adjustable slats and shared columns, joined to six single modules with fixed slat corner overhangs, in a textured white colour.
We have completed the installation with an LED lighting system integrated into the modular slats of the pergolas, which allows all kinds of events to be hosted during the long summer nights overlooking the Mediterranean.
The needs that were raised at the beginning of the project regarding the creation of a unique space where its customers could enjoy the outdoor life in their rooms have been covered.
The enclosure of the Saxun Bioclimatic Pergolas not only protects against the sun, but also the rain and other atmospheric elements.
Given the size and dimensions of this composition, in order to avoid possible water leaks the modules of this particular Saxun installation were manufactured with interlinked gutters and drainage with floor drains in all its columns, made possible by our new 180x150 double beam.
This is an example of how a custom-made Bioclimatic Pergola installation provides great versatility and functionality to a space which in principle is limited.
Its metal structure, sturdy and at the same time light overall, makes it possible to give a new use or utility to the covered space.
When under the pergola, one feels safe and protected from the sun and other atmospheric elements, while its open-air structure gives a sense of freedom and enjoyment typical of outdoor spaces.
